Our Story

From Low Voltage Roots to Full-Service Electrical

Brightwire Electric's story begins in 1997, when Christian Orbesen founded Ortel Technologies — a company specializing in low-voltage systems including CCTV, security cameras, and structured cabling. For two decades, Ortel Technologies built a reputation for precision, reliability, and technical expertise across the Tampa Bay region.

In 2017, Christian expanded the business into full-service electrical contracting, bringing the same attention to detail and commitment to quality that defined Ortel Technologies. Today, as Brightwire Electric, we offer everything from panel upgrades and LED lighting to commercial build-outs — all backed by nearly three decades of hands-on experience.

Our low-voltage heritage gives us a unique advantage: we understand both the power and data sides of modern electrical systems, making us the complete solution for residential and commercial clients alike.

Owner & Florida State Certified Master Electrician

With over 20 years of experience in the electrical industry, Christian brings a hands-on approach to every project Brightwire Electric takes on. As a Florida State Certified Master Electrician — the highest level of electrical licensing in the state — he holds himself and his team to the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.

Christian personally oversees projects to ensure every detail meets his exacting standards. His philosophy is simple: do the job right the first time, communicate clearly, and stand behind your work. It's an approach that has earned Brightwire Electric the trust of homeowners and business owners across Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco counties.

When he's not on a job site, Christian is mentoring the next generation of electricians and staying current with the latest electrical codes, technologies, and best practices.
